Eaton Innovation Lab

Lucille Roybal-Allard Elementary is creating an innovation lab!!  An innovation lab, aka iLab, is a place where students focus on STEAM and explore, create and design!  Here is what we did...

Green Screen

So here we have an area that has a green screen permanently up. Then students can use iPads and apps such as Tellagami, VeeScope or Green Screen by Do Ink to put together videos to transport them around the world. 

Robotics

We are eternally grateful to Eaton for awarding us a grant to purchase robots for our students.  With these robots, students are able to code.  We have Dash, Dot, Circuit playgrounds, Arduinos, Spheros, Ozobots, Code-a-pillars, BeeBots and Ozmos.

Maker Space

A maker space is a whole other room with materials and tools for design and creative thinking.  It's a great space for design thinking.  A team of teachers went to the Stanford d.school on their own time to get in depth training about this fantastic approach. 

We are very excited for this opportunity for our students.  We already have a Computer Lab and in class technology for our students but this will take the learning a step further!  

Our technology team has worked hard writing grants for Practitioner 2.0, Practitioner 3.0, Practitioner 4.0 and Practitioner 5.0.  Here is an explanation of the program:  "The Instructional Technology Initiative (ITI) is committed to reimagining instructional technology support to schools as they continue making shifts to cultivate effective 21st-century instruction. Following the ITI Task Force Recommendations, ITI developed the Practitioner Schools (PS) model to reimagine and exemplify how schools can leverage digital tools to create rigorous and personalized learning environments for all learners."  We were lucky to have earned these grants and have an Instructional Technology Facilitator on campus.  We are so happy to have Mabel Lung on our staff this year!!
