I am looking forward to a new and exciting year of learning. I want this year to be successful and productive. Working together we can ensure that our students will accomplish their academic and personal goals. The following information will help you and your child understand what is expected of them in my class.
Attendance - Regular attendance is an essential component in your child’s education. It is extremely important that s/he attends school every day. Students are expected to come to class on time and be prepared for the day. Make up work will only be given if your child brings an illness note from home when clearing his/her absences.
Homework - Homework is a valuable tool that helps students make the most of their school experience. Homework helps to reinforce what has been learned in school, prepare students for upcoming experiences, teach responsibility, and helps students develop positive study habits.
Students will have homework several days a week. Homework will be collected the next day unless specified. Homework does count toward your child’s grade. Students are responsible for writing down their homework assignments on their agenda planner. I respectfully request that parents ensure their child completes their homework daily.
Grades - Students are expected to complete and turn in their class work as well as their homework assignments. Papers should have a complete heading that includes: complete name, date, subject, and my name. Grades will be based on class work (including warm-ups), group work, quizzes, tests, projects and classroom participation/cooperation.
Classroom Rules and Expectations - I believe that students can and will behave appropriately. I will not tolerate any student who prevents me from teaching or prevents others from learning. I expect students to follow the rules and guidelines below to ensure a safe learning environment in our classroom. I will review the following rules in class:
Our Classroom Rules - Students are expected to always follow the 4 P’s. Students will be:
1. Punctual
2. Prepared
3. Productive
4. Polite
I am expecting a wonderful year. With your support, we can work together to help your child be successful. Thank you for your cooperation.
