Maribel Rendon

Maribel Rendon Locker

Welcome parents and students to our classroom website.  My name is Mrs. Rendon, and I am delighted to be your new third grade teacher.  I will start by telling you a little bit about who I am. I was raised in Los Angeles, California.  As a child I attended LAUSD and graduated from the University of California Santa BarbaraI obtained my teaching credential from National University.  In the summer of 2008, I completed a Masters program: MA in Educational Administration, Option:  Educational Leadership from California State University, Los Angeles.  I earned National Board Certification (an advanced teaching credential):  Class of  2013.  This is my 15th year teaching.  Prior to Lucille-Allard Roybal Elementary I taught at Miles Magnet Elementary and I was the Magnet coordinator for 3 years.

Third grade is a time of new beginnings, of making friends, and of learning lots of new things each and every day. Our days and weeks will be filled with many wonderful experiences and opportunities for learning and growing.  As a teacher, I understand and strongly believe that all students are individuals who come with their own personalities and styles of learning. This way of thinking is embedded into my teaching and I use it to teach academic skills such as reading, writing, math, science, and technology. Differentiated instruction is used in my classroom to have all students reach their highest potential.

I also recognize that students have their own culture and it is my responsibility to have this play an important role in how the class will come to an understanding of each other.  I also understand that I will not be able to do this alone, I need your help and support.  Together we will be able to provide our students with the necessary tools to learn life long skills that will enable them to be successful individuals in today's society. This incorporates such skills as problem solving, critical thinking, flexibility, manners, empathy, responsibility, organization and most importantly self-awareness.  In my classroom, all my students are equal and they will all learn from each other and myself. In return, I know that I will learn from them. We are a team and together we can achieve any goal our hearts desire.
