Academia de las Americas, our original name, is a team of teachers who banded together to apply for a new school built by LAUSD through the Public School Choice 3.0 process. The team of teachers and administrators includes Michael Blount, Martha Gonzales, Gilbert Gutierrez, Ruth Navarro, Hang Nguyen, Lisa Robles, Maria Alcaraz, Cecy Equihua, Teresa Rivas, Claudia Martinez, Angelica Rivera, Cynthia Gomez and Maria Rodriguez-Navarro. We want to create the best educational environment possible for our students. The plan was approved in March, 2012! Lucille Roybal-Allard ES opened in August, 2012. We applied to become a pilot school for the 2014-15 school year and we were approved!
